James Paul Jacobs

October 21, 1922 - June 5, 2016

Oct. 21, 1922 – June 5, 2016 James Paul Jacobs of Port Lavaca, Texas was born in Morristown, Tennessee on October 21, 1922, entered heaven on June 5, 2016. Paul (also known as JP and James) was raised on a tobacco farm in the hills of Tennessee until he joined the Navy and served on the USS Tate during WWII. After he’s discharge he married the love of his life, Mary Kate Pinkston, and together they raised their son, William (Bill) Edward, in Tennessee then moved to Texas where their daughter, Mary Pauline,was born. Paul retired from ALCOA, Point Comfort, Texas operationsafter 25 years in various jobs in the facilities maintenance department. Paul was a 60 year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Port Lavaca, Texas. Paul is survived by his daughter, Mary Pauline Cochran (Rob), grandsons, Zachary Insley (Magali), Aaron Insley (Hillary), Sam Jacobs (Erin) and granddaughter Sarah Holifield (Nick). Great-Grandsons,Benjamin Insley, Grayson Insley, Benjamin Jacobs, Bailey Jacobs and Victor Holifield. Step Granddaughter, Candace Cochran, Step Grandson, John Cochran (Karie) and Step Great-Grandchildren Anastasia and Sebastian Cochran. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kate, son, William (Bill) Edward also parents, Arthur and Alice, brothers, Carl and Ralph, and sister, Mary Ellen. Paul was a gentle man who loved his family very much and will be remembered as the best Daddy in the whole world, a wonderful husband, self-taught artist, awesome shade tree mechanic, fixer of all things that couldn’t be fixed, and the builder of his dreams who always said “Just keep on Keeping on! You can do it!” The family would like to thank Victorville Senior Citizen Club for the wonderful friendships Paul enjoyed as well as Victor Valley Hospital Nursing and ICU departments and Knolls West Post Acute for their compassion and professionalism. Paul will have a graveside service at Emma Jargnagin Cemetery, Morristown, Tennessee on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his name to The First Presbyterian Church, Port Lavaca, Texas, Enterprise Baptist Church, Morristown, Tennessee or Victorville Senior Citizen Club, Victorville, California.
